Summary: "Best Installment Yet!"

I strongly suggest you read this series in order (Forbidden Magic and Seduced by Magic) before tackling this book. This installment was tremendously enjoyable. Rhiannon, a D'Anu witch is keeping a deep dark secret from her coven sisters; she has dark shadows inside of her. She is not just susceptible to dark magic but she actually has living shadows inside of her. Keir, Tuatha D'Danann warrior and brother to Hawk, crosses over from Otherworld to assist in the battle. He becomes taken with Rhi and together they combine their strengths against their enemy. The battle with Balor, the god of death, is heating up; especially now that his goddess Ceithlenn has escaped the Underworld and possessed Sara, an ex D'Anu sister. Ceithlenn encounters Rhi and unleashes a mental torment that attacks Rhi like a parasite. The battle with Ceithlenn spills into the public view. Ceithlenn is a powerful force to be reckoned with. The goddess being denied power and devastation for centuries has an insatiable hunger that gruesomely kills people by the thousands. My only regret with this book is that we don't see Darkwolf get dominated in the same way he humiliated and dominated Junga. This book had plenty of action and magic; it was delightedly a bit darker than the first two installments and there were thankfully fewer sex scenes than the first two installments. I would consider this a dark paranormal romance fantasy, not exactly a hybrid between dark urban fantasy but very close. I recommend this book to those dark urban fantasy readers who have patience to flip through the many sex scenes (which are usually hot but one or two is enough for me) to stick with the plot. I also look forward to reading the Magic series novella in the anthology No Rest for the Witches, as well as the next book in the series, Shadow Magic.

I also recommend:
Dreamfever
Thorn Queen (Dark Swan, Book 2)
Demon Inside
Insatiable Desire (The Demonborn)
Witch Blood (Elemental Witches, Book 2)

Summary: "Very hot dark magick"

This was really good especally for the series. they all have their own good sides. Rhinnona (my spelling bites) is a drow part wiccan and she sure can pull it off. She uses some of her magic with sex as they all do very interesting. I recommend the whole series to anyone.

Summary: "Disappointing...just ok"

I am a big fan of paranormal fiction and have read a lot of great authors. Based on the other reviews, I gave this book a try. I am surprised that other reviewers rated this book highly. I had a hard time getting into the story and found the sex scenes distracting. I like a good sex scene but these I did not like. The author's use of vulgar words (I hate the "P" word which she used frequently) made the scenes feel more like fuXXing rather than making love. That'd be ok in the instances where the demons (bad guys) were coming together but in the case of the main characters who were supposed to be soul mates it didn't support the story of them coming together. I ended up skimming through the sex scenes and unfortunately the rest of the story wasn't that engrossing. This was a book I could easily put down unfortunately.

If you are on the hunt for great paranormal romance, here are some other series that I really enjoyed and found hard to put down:
Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance, Tairen Soul series by CL Wilson, Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Biggs, Anita Blake series by Laurell Hamilton, Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer, Argeneau vampire series by Lynsay Sands, Dark Hunter series by Sherilyn Kenyon, World of Lupi series by Eileen Wilkes

This series is awesome. Lots of action with just enough romance to make sure it has everything you need to create a great read.

Summary: "Not going to bother getting the rest of the series"

In a nutshell, this book is not that great.

The sex scenes are hot, yes, but they get a bit old, not to mention she should have given in much later in the book, held the sexual tension longer. That would have had the added bonus of making fewer of the same scenes, with the same tired, jaded descriptions.

I enjoyed the concept, but the writing was a tad sophomoric and technically appalling. The hero was an over-the-top caricature of romance novel studs and I found myself just kind of rolling my eyes at him. Rhiannon, as another reviewer mentions, is way too narrow-minded and hypocritical. I suppose that's part of the point. She's practicing her own sort of bad for the greater good, and not seeing that it's no different than what the Drow are doing.

One small pet-peeve: her use of the spelling "Elvin." That drove me nuts for some reason. I have always seen it Elven. I guess that's a personal thing.

One large pet peeve: I almost put the book down when they bonded because I realized that there were simply not enough pages left in the book to resolve the greater conflict. Skimming through the last chapter, is another sophomoric sex-scene (Where once again, even the orgasms are over-the-top caricatures. I mean I've had some incredible sex in my life, but..thunder in my ears? Come on. I know, I know, so I didn't do it with a D'Danann.) But there's not even an innuendo that the story will continue. I sat there like...what??

I was going to risk buying the others in the series (used so as to not spend much) but after reading the reviews for the first one...I'm saving my money.
